Architecture Symposium and Exhibitions 24-31 January 2025
SYMPOSIUM The event revolves around the theme ‘Collaboration’. Speakers include local architects, local community groups, as well as academics. The target audience will also include members of the public and architecture students. The talks/presentations discuss collaborative aspect/s of projects – for example, collaborations between architectural firms, community groups and the University on projects contributing to a more sustainable built environment. There will be an awards ceremony for student winners of a collaborative design competition with the North Staffordshire Society of Architects (NSSA) and British Ceramic Biennial (BCB).
EXHIBITIONS There will be three exhibitions:
- COLLABORATION IN PRACTICE: Featuring work of architectural practitioners from the NSSA
- ‘DELIGHTFUL FUN’: A Cedric Price Thinkbelt for our Times, featuring some of the work of Cedric Price
- RAMMED EARTH PLAYSCAPE: A Collaboration between University of Staffordshire architecture students & BCB
The Symposium will take place in the Film Theatre in Flaxman Building, University of Staffordshire, College Rd., Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 2DE on 24th January 2025 and the exhibitions will be in the adjacent Henrion Gallery in Henrion Building. The exhibitions will be open from Friday 24th until Friday 31st January 2025.
