BIM in Birmingham, 25-26 January 2018

Join us in the West Midlands in January where the city of Birmingham will play host to the some of the worlds top designers as part of the RIBA BIM EXPO & aae BIM camp at BIM in Birmingham 2018. Proudly sponsored by Deltalight & Armitage Shanks.

The event will welcome over 500 architecture and design students from the UK and South America alongside 200 built environment professionals. This will make the two days one of the largest BIM Expo’s in Europe. The BIM Expo will look at the endless possibilities within BIM (Building Information Modelling) involving demonstrations, presentations of live and past case studies, workshops and a variety of other educational activities to help guests both learn about BIM and aspire to achieve best practice.

The RIBA BIM Expo features over twenty key BIM pioneers alongside special guest keynotes from the Heatherwick Studio and Gensler. The RIBA BIM Expo will showcase a unique insight from world class designers & BIM managers practicing BIM on projects across the world.

Over the last two years, Victoria Farrow, Programme Director of the BA architecture course at Birmingham School of Architecture and Design and Conor Nolan, Project Manager at the Royal Institute of British Architects have worked to develop and shape an event that looks to meets the needs of industry professionals and students. Following the huge successes of the January 2017 event, the pair decided to work on engaging even bigger numbers and offering opportunities for more students and practitioners to become involved in BIM 2018.

BIM in Birmingham 2018 is a project by the RIBA & aae in partnership with Birmingham City University and is proudly sponsored by Delta Light & Armitage Shanks.

BCU Program Director & BIM in Birmingham creator Victoria Farrow:

It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to run this event again but on a larger scale. Being able to offer students, from BCU and also surrounding universities nationally, with the chance to participate in a professional conference such as this, to gain experience, knowledge and also build their own networking contacts is a privilege and an experience that I hope will go onto help them further their own careers. Similarly, I am delighted to welcome national and international practitioners to our facilities where they will be able to learn about BIM, network with colleagues and to engage with architects and designers who are at the top of the tier when it comes to BIM processes and practices. We at the Birmingham school of architecture and design are really looking forward to January 2018!”

RIBA Project Manager and BIM in Birmingham creator Conor Nolan:

“In the space of a year, we have gone from being a regional conference to an international event, with guests and delegates from Europe and South America visiting and six universities also in attendance. The growth of BIM in Birmingham is a real testament to the quality of BIM pioneers who presented in 2017 and who are supporting us again in 2018. We aim to help both our members and our students access new knowledge and skills and this Expo is a great vehicle for doing that.
